iphone app to measure walking distance

We went on a hike just now now that was through twists and turns, over hills, and through rivers and would have been a little difficult to map exactly. We used the 'map my run' iphone app to measure it on the return trip and it said we hiked 2.65 miles. It wasn't that accurate though because it gave us a message that said the GPS was having difficulties-it gave us a birds eye view of the route (straight line) instead of twisting and turning like it did. Seems like a challenging software app to develop, but interesting. We'll have to see how development with those kinds of features grows over the next few months. I'll keep mapping my walking routes through Fitlink because it is the most accurate way.

Cool! I remember when husband and I used to hike a fair bit, there were quite a few times where we'd cry "where the heck are we?". Well we used a different word from heck. GPS must make it all easy! Except the actual walking part. :)

Nokia phones do something similar and they can interface to some Polar HRMs too.
Bikely, which is a site for creating bike maps will upload some sort of GPS format and map it out on a google map.
