    About Me

    • I am the happily married SAHM of a beautiful little boy. I've exercised off and on my whole life, but recently made a commitment to a healthier lifestyle. I'm hoping to find a workout partner who will laugh with, encourage, and push me as we become healthier together.

My experience with High School Track, College PE courses, and training with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training, has shown me that I excel when I have others depending on me to show up and do my best. That is why I am looking for a workout partner.

    • Well, I have two, really.
My first is that I began training with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training just 3months after giving birth (I blame the sleep deprivation!). As a result, not only did I raise over $2,000 for the Society, but in June 2006 I completed my first and only (thus far) FULL MARATHON!!! (That's something I never thought possible.)
      My second highlight is:
From Nov 06 to Feb 07 I slowly increased my activity level and learned to manage my calories in a healthy, sustainable manner. As a result I was able to lose 23lbs and drop over an inch in my waist!!!

    • Toward the end of March a family tragedy threw me off my healthy road and I've since gained about 4lbs and my stomach is noticeably (to me) looser.

    • I want to get back on track with regular exercising and return to healthy food portions and choices. I want to lose the 4lbs I've gained back and keep going to my ideal weight of 165lbs. That would mean a total loss of 9 stubborn pounds. I would also like to cinch down my waist again and tone up the rest of me. It would also be nice to do a half marathon or similar event sometime in the next year- but only if I had a partner who wanted to do it with me.

    • I'm always up for trying new things! However, I do need to bring my son with me for whatever I do, and being a single income family in San Diego means gym memberships and other paid activities are usually out of the question. However, I do have a great jogging stroller and framed hiking carrier for my son, which opens up more activity possibilities.

    • Doing it alone. Conquering my procrastination when there's no one waiting for me to get started or show up.

    • I post motivational notes and pictures in strategic places around my house. I also try to keep a food journal and actively participate on a diet and exercise message board. Also, since I plan on having more kids, I'll occasionally whip out a baby book and read all the scary stuff about the higher risks of extra pre-pregnancy weight. That will usually get me off my butt and away from the snack cupboard! ;-)

    • I know I've had a great workout when:
I have so much fun that I almost forget I'm exercising, but afterward my body tells me that I actually worked very hard. I also really enjoy pushing my own personal limits- going just a little beyond what I think I can endure- especially with running. I always get such a high afterward! :-D
