Good workout today. First in a WEEK. I think that's the longest I've gone without a run a very longtime. I got on the scale this morning and I was up about 2 pounds. 2 a day workouts 3 times a week start tomorrow morning.

This was really the first true interval/speed workout I've ever done. Typically I'm a stick with one pace kind of guy - today i mixed it up. I did quarter mile intervals:
1 - 8:30 pace
2 - 6:30 pace
3 - 8:30 pace
4 - 6:30 pace
5 - 8:30 pace
6 - 6:30 pace
7 - 8:30 pace
8 - 6:30 pace
Cool down. Great workout - really different for me!

Great run and personal victory for me - I really didn't feel like running today and I was able to do it and get it done. Nice. I had myself talked out of doing it at all, but got motivated and got it done!

This is the first time in a long time that I have done spin class. It felt really good - a little on the hot side though.

Solid run. I have been feeling great lately, no pain in my hip or knee. Things are looking really good for a fun summer running season. Yipee!
I am realizing that I need to up my speed to get a similar workout to ones I've had in the past - that's a good thing! That mean my fitness is improving and I'm getting to be a more efficient runner.
Later...

As some of you may or may not know, I write for CompleteRunning.com and recently Chris, one of the founders of Fitlink.com, was nice enough to give me some time and a brief interview. You can find the interview and the article up here right now! Go check it out!
Thanks!

Today I started my 18 week marathon training plan. I'm running a marathon on May 27th and hope that this plan will get me there in good shape. I'm using Hal Higdon's Marathon Intermediate II plan.
Here is the first week:
Monday: 3 miles (Done!)
Tuesday: 5 miles
Wednesday: 3 miles
Thursday: Swim (Cross-train)
Friday: 5 miles pace
Saturday: 10 miles (long run)
Sunday: rest or cross-train
Total mileage: 26 miles
I'm going to plug these into the calendar now...

I am not sure where else to add info on my day. I am a Volunteer firefighter and today I spent the day training. We were able to have a whole day of actual fire training in a house that was being demolished and I stayed pretty active (hauling hose, etc.) for most of the day.
I think that qualifies as a good days workout!

Good run, felt solid, still no pain. Also, I've started running with my Polar HRM again so I have that data as well. For today, here it is:
Avg HR: 159
Max HR: 182
Calories: 759
This includes warm up and cool down.
As a post note, I just about kicked my Polar HRM out the door - when I ran the TCM Marathon last fall I wore my HRM and stored the results on the watch. Yesterday, it locked up and I had to reset it - losing all my historical data, including my marathon run. Boohoo.
