58 year old female
New Port Richey, FL
I am married and live in New Port Richey, Florida (about 20 miles north of Tampa). I previously belonged to the Gold's gym on Hwy 19 and then joined Family Fitness on Little Road. Now I am trying to go without a gym and do it at home. At home I have an elliptical, free weights and a Smith Machine. I also enjoy walking outside and have a GymBoss that I use for timing intervals. I am interested in finding someone either nearby or who I can team up with virtually to motivate each other. Someone around my own age and fitness level is preferred.
I was in my best shape in April 2006 when I got married. I worked with a personal trainer who set up a program for me - it had not only my workout for days I went to the gym but also a free weight progam for days that I chose to work out at home.
Probably in 2000 - I was going through a tough time and eating seemed to be the answer. I think in 2000 I was at my heaviest weight ever (besides pregnancy).
Overall better fitness and also to work on my trouble areas. Like many women I like to firm up my stomach and lose my love handles.
Tai chi or martial arts. I have never tried either of them but would like to.
Making the time and sticking to it. I have set my personal goal at 200 minutes per week. I log my time from Sunday to Saturday.
My Mom has crippling rheumatoid arthritis and every single day is painful for her. So I think of my Mom and remind myself that I am healthy and there is no excuse for not working out.
When I am pretty much covered in sweat. That really makes me feel good that 1: I've worked out, but 2: I really pushed it and made good use of the time I spent.
I have spurts of consistent exercise, but then go through periods of inactivity.
I am experienced, knowledgeable and fairly skilled.
I am fairly experienced, but by no means an expert.
I prefer friendly partners who help me work harder than I do on my own.

I would like to get my Group Fitness Instructor certification. I have tried achieving this through self-study but was not successful because there were SO many terms and I had a hard time learning them all on my own. What I'm really looking for is a combination of self-study and attending some classes to reinforce what I've read. The classes could be either on line or in person. Any suggestions?
