Get a good pair of wicking socks to keep your feet dry, along with a properly fit pair of hiking boots or shoes to provide good support for uneven terrain.
Pack your backpack with an even load, and if it is a technical pack, make sure the stay and the backpack straps (usually at least 6 of them) are pulled tightly to make the backpack fir your body snugly. Most of the weight should be carried on your hips, not your shoulders. You will be more comfortable for longer this way.
TIP: Pack more water than you think you will need. You will need a lot of water to stay hydrated and alert while outside, and you want to be prepared in case you wander off the trail and it takes longer to get home than normal.
