2 Week Free Boot Camp Starts January 4

  • Its time to get excited! The Cycle Project’s inaugural event is less than one day away. Highlight Tuesday and the upcoming workouts in your calendar to ensure you don’t miss out on the fun while supporting a great cause. The Cycle Project’s boot camps are the perfect way jump-start your healthy lifestyle or supplement what you are currently doing. We have already had a great response from people motivated to be a part of this, so come out and join the fun, the workouts, and our cause: Stopping the obesity cycle in children.

    It’s imperative that we educate children and parents now while our children still have a chance at healthy lives. Do you realize that obese children and adolescents are more likely to be obese as adults? For example, one study found that approximately 80% of children who were overweight at ages 10–15 years were obese adults at age 25 years. Another study also found that if overweight begins before 8 years of age, obesity in adulthood is likely to be more severe. We need to work together now to help prevent this later. Our donation-based boot camps are an excellent way to start.

    The boot camp will consist of a unique fusion of resistance, core, functional training and stretching that combines stretch cords, circuits, agility and balance. We have designed it for all ability levels so whether you are just starting back or have been working out for a long time, you are assured to get a great work out!

    Our hour-long donation-based boot camps will be held:
    Tue January 4 6am & 7:15am
    Thu January 6 6am & 7:15am
    Sun January 9 10am
    Tue January 11 6am & 7:15am
    Thu January 13 6am & 7:15am
    Sun January 16 10am

    We will meet on Santa Monica Beach just north of Ocean Park, where Hollister runs into the beach. There is a parking lot at the bottom of that hill. On Tue/Thu mornings we will meet just south of the Perry’s Café. On Thu night and Sun morning we will meet on the sand right in front of lifeguard tower 24.

    As previously stated, our initial benchmark for 2011 fundraising is $1500 by January 31. So whether you come down to the boot camp and donate for your workout, donate for the cause, or just forward this on to your address book so they can help, any action you take to help us will also be helping stop the obesity cycle in America’s youth.
