Burn calories, not electricity

New Yorkers are going to be reading signs in many buildings now that encourage them to take the stairs and burn calories instead of electricity. The city will provide the signs free of charge to any building who will post it. The message is clean (and green) and simple: "Burn calories, not electricity. Take the stairs."

In the health section of NYC.gov, the article explaining the new approach towards a healthier city begins with a simple message: "Like cars and trucks, elevators and escalators burn energy and harm the environment; they also promote obesity by keeping us physically inactive. Today, a coalition of city officials and private partners urged fellow New Yorkers to embrace a simple alternative: Take the Stairs!"

In an effort to go green, burn calories, and boost your energy, read this article to learn what else you can do.
