Summer slump with fitness?

By: UpYourFit - August 2, 2011
Are you getting bored with your workout routine as the summer plods on? As summer winds down, making the most of the long days of sunlight gets more important. However, loosing the motivation to stay active is a common occurrence in late summer. If you're like me and you work better when you have a specific goal set, then try a new challenge! Set yourself up for a race that will inspire your workout! In San Diego, we never have a shortage of athletic events to participate in, but some of us feel a little intimidated by all those men with raging testosterone racing past. So, here's a list of local events for the ladies only! They're all good starter races, for those who are just beginning to set a race goal.

About the Submitter

UpYourFit

I love being active. I am a triathlete, mountaineer, gymnast, Certified Personal Trainer, boot camp coach, and a Certified USA Triathlon Coach. Some people refer to me as hyper or energetic, but I don't drink coffee. This energy comes from my ever-lasting love of movement and I think I inspire others to move their bodies too!
I always loved running and gymnastics since I was a kid. I enjoyed competing, but never pursued anything seriously until I was 30 years old when I began swimming with the University of San Francisco Masters. Craving the speed in the water and my unending joy of running launched me into triathlon in 2006.
Now, I have several podium finishes, one Age Group win and one overall First Place female win under my belt. Swimming, running and biking tugged on my heart strings through the purity of hard work. I just put my nose to the grindstone and see what I can achieve. Anything is possible!
