I'm currently teaching Spanish to 1st-8th grade students. I love helping youth discover a cultural awareness and understanding of the wider world. And I find it deeply gratifying to be given the role of positively shaping young minds. I'm contemplating continuing my education to become a foreign language instructor at the high school level.
I feel extremely proud to have participated and trained through Team in Training, whose active members inspired me to complete 3 marathons and 2 triathlons. I was also able to raise over $10,000 for a truly meaningful cause.
I lost sight of my priorities and solely focused on work---this led to compounded stress, reduced energy, and poor eating habits. I looked and felt absolutely horrid!! My life basically went downhill for about 6 months.
I'm aiming to set up a new and improved fitness routine. I'm most passionate about distance running because it gives me that natural runner's high---it's so uplifting! I'm starting my training for 2 half marathons (and shorter events) this year.
Since my personal fitness isn't at its best, I'm looking to explore other physical activities that might peak my interest, such as cardio kickboxing and Brazilian capoeira---as long as there are challenges and movement involved!
Remaining consistent and self-motivated when not "officially" training for an event...preventing injuries from overzealous (unrealistic) workouts
Visualize my goal and then act on it
I know I've had a great workout after having pushed myself further than I initially thought I could, and having allowed my mind to challenge my body---my breathing seems calm/steady, but my heart is racing like a maniac!
Improve overall health
I am able to get started, and once started I give myself a decent workout.
I am experienced, knowledgeable and fairly skilled.
I am fairly experienced, but by no means an expert.
I prefer friendly partners who help me work harder than I do on my own.
