The City of Roses, as Portland is called, is an extremely green city, and offers many indoor and outdoor fitness activities. Hiking, biking and walking is most enjoyable in either Forest Park or Tryon Creek State Park. You can enjoy hours of free fitness exploring the 30 mile Wildwood Trail which runs through Forest Park. If you like competitive fitness activities, stop by Delta Park which has soccer fields, volleyball courts, football fields and running paths. Cyclists are very welcome in Portland, so its not hard to find greenways and bike paths to help you commute throughout the city and stay in shape. The city takes fitness seriously; it operates 13 community centers, 13 swimming pools and 5 municipal golf courses.
