It's easy to find fitness opportunities in Milwaukee which is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan. The city is Wisconsin's largest city and contains a population of active and sporty residents. Milwaukee is not only a motocycling city (it's home to Harley-Davidson's headquarters), it's also a cycling city. Cycling is more than a pasttime in Milwaukee; it's also a popular and efficient means of transportation. There are 45 miles of bike lanes and 50 miles of bike paths in Milwaukee. There is still work being done on the Hank Aaron State Trail which runs for 7 miles along the Menomonee River and through a former industrialized area. It is a great trail for biking, hiking, running and inline skating. Additionally, you can connect in Milwaukee to the Oak Leaf Recreational Trail which covers 100 miles of paved and gravel trails. If you like winter sports, check out the Pettit National Ice Center; a US Olympic training facility with a skating oval and two large rinks. The neighborhoods in Milawaukee also have a large varitey of gyms and health clubs to suit your every fitness need. Wisconsin Athletic Club is a well-equipped and popular health club in the Third Ward. If you need fitness personal training, you can sign up for sessions at Fitness Together; a private personal training gym.
