Los Angeles, the city of celebrities and beach bums, stays warm and sunny most days of the year. And despite problems with air quality, the city remains a great place for outdoor fitness activites. In-skaters love to roll up and down the boardwalks of Venice Beach and Redondo Beach while surfers wait for the perfect wave and beach bunnies look on from their tanning spots. Additionally, Los Angeles is near the Santa Monica Mountains which offer great hiking trails and beautiful scenery. If you are a mountain biker, you can check out Malibu Creek State Park which features terrain for both the advanced and beginner rider. The city operates 59 public pools, so when the weather gets too hot, you can swim a few laps instead of hiking, skating or biking. Of coarse, if you are going to spend anytime on the beach, you will want to get your body bathing suit ready -- finding a gym in Los Angeles will not be hard. LA Fitness which gets its namesake from the city is now a national chain and has numerous locations in and around LA.
