Exercise is medicine. Train now and you will live longer and be more independent in the future. So chose an activity you really like, dancing, hiking, or swimming and participate. Health is really a product of movement and not speed. Some people are competitive and will run a race for time. They may finish quickly (and before I do), but they sometimes spend days or weeks recuperating. If you chose to run a race...say a 10K....train before and pace yourself during and run it in such a way that you can get up the next day and exercise again. So if you run long and hard on Sunday, you can still get up on Monday and do Yoga and Tuesday you can swim or walk and then Wednesday go out for a recovery run.
